UK gospel music enthusiasts will remember Jones & Co from Wolverhampton; Priscilla is the one of those very same Jones' and was a teenager at the time, but I remember the excitement about their early recordings, they were being touted as a hot family band. Since those early days Priscilla has been singing with Robbie Williams, Jocelyn Brown, Tom Jones, Eric Clapton, Spice Girls, Lighthouse Family, Craig David, Will Young, Boyzone, Westlife and Chaka Khan, to name just a few. So it's a delight to see her releasing a solo gospel CD. It's everything I expected and more. The opening track "Joy" has melody, feel and groove with a beautiful middle eight. Priscilla is gifted in a number of areas: songwriting, production, performing, singing. Nicky Brown, who Priscilla worked with on M People's highly acclaimed albums, has brought his own creative flair to the songs, Nicky helped produce and write some of the songs. The musicianship is tight, artistic and punchy. These songs deserve to be heard by the same kind of large audience who listen to Priscilla singing on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. I don't see why they shouldn't be, they are commercial without being trite and accessible without being shallow.

Ever so often we encounter a pivotal moment in UK Gospel, where a project appears that changes the way artistes approach their music (Playing Games comes to mind). Ex Nu Colours member Priscilla has come seemingly out of nowhere and dropped a bombshell of RnB, pop, rock and Gospel. This has resulted in a beautiful fusion that pushes boundaries without offence. Big vocal ballads like Calvary keep hardcore gospel listeners happy while edgy hand-clapping joints like Lift Him Up are built for the club. The wide range of styles covered in this album could have easily made for a disjointed listen, but it has been tied together seemlessly by consistent production and quality song writing. Miss this and miss out
